Vintage Shipibo Conibo Pottery Bowl Peru Amazon Geometric Kené Tribal Folk Art
N/A
Striking vintage Shipibo-Conibo style pottery bowl featuring intricate hand-painted geometric designs in earthy terracotta, black, cream and red tones. The maze-like linear decoration is characteristic of the kené geometric tradition associated with Shipibo-Conibo art of the Peruvian Amazon. The bowl has a substantial rounded form measuring approximately 11” wide, making it an impressive display piece. Beautiful as a centerpiece, shelf display, or addition to a collection of Indigenous, South American, ethnographic, or folk pottery. The surface shows wonderful age and character, including variations and wear to the painted decoration. Condition: This bowl has been cracked and repaired in the past. Multiple repair lines are clearly visible, and there are chips/losses along portions of the rim and repaired areas. The bowl is currently together and displays beautifully, but because of the extensive old repairs, I recommend it primarily as a decorative/collectible display piece rather than for functional use. Please review all photos closely—the repairs and imperfections are part of the item’s condition and are shown in detail. Size: approximately 11” wide.
