Vintage 1950s Japan Elf Pixie Salt Pepper Shakers-Tree-Christmas-MCM-Kitsch-Pair
No Brand
Vintage c. 1950s–60s ceramic elf/pixie salt and pepper shaker pair, attributed to Japan. Designed as two mischievous elves playing hide-and-seek around a tree trunk, the separate shakers nest together to create one whimsical figural scene. Japanese makers produced an imaginative range of novelty ceramic kitchenware for the American export market during the postwar mid-century period, with pixies and elves becoming especially collectible designs. Glossy green, yellow, tan and brown glaze with gold accents. Well suited to MCM, retro, kitsch, woodland, cottagecore or vintage Christmas décor. Dimensions: Each approximately 3.5 H × 2.5 W. Condition: Good vintage condition. Tiny flea-bite chip behind one elf's ear as shown. One cork stopper has fallen inside its shaker; the other stopper is missing. Age-related surface wear may be present. Please review photos.
