Kawatsura Lacquerware Ganko Tansu Zelkova Solid Wood Wiped Lacquer Finish Wave Plover Fittings Nakagiri

This is a robust Ganko Tansu (a type of traditional Japanese chest of drawers) made from solid zelkova wood, finished with the traditional techniques of Kawatsura Lacquerware from Akita Prefecture. Its beautiful wood grain and striking wave-chidori (wave and plover) metal fittings give it a sense of luxury and presence, making it a truly exceptional piece. The deep luster, achieved through the hand-applied wiping lacquer finish, is another captivating feature, resulting in a finish that also serves as a stunning interior decoration.

While there are minor scratches and scuffs from use, there is no significant damage, and the overall condition is clean. The interior is remarkably clean and can still be used comfortably. There are some signs of use, but they contribute to the piece's character and can be enjoyed as part of its vintage charm, allowing you to fully appreciate the atmosphere unique to antique furniture.

Additionally, while it functions without issue during dry periods, due to humidity and climate influences, the top drawer may be slightly recessed. This can sometimes make opening and closing the door feel a bit stiff.
These are characteristic traits of traditional furniture made from solid wood and are a testament to its solid construction. We kindly ask for your understanding of the above points before considering a purchase.
