Kyo-Yuzen [Fifth Generation, Kihachi Tabata] Japanese Embroidery, Genuine Gold Leaf, Hand-Painted Yuzen Dye - New Irotomesode Kimono
Introducing a masterpiece by the renowned master craftsman, the fifth generation Kiihachi Tabata, a leading figure in Kyo-Yuzen, the heartland of Japanese Yuzen dyeing.
This exquisite piece is a luxurious treasure, adorned not only with the vibrant Kyo-Yuzen dyeing but also with the exceptionally rare and valuable Japanese embroidery and genuine gold leaf.
Furthermore, this kimono is in pristine, unused condition, still with its original basting threads attached. We invite you to appreciate the world created by Kiihachi Tabata and experience the pinnacle of craftsmanship firsthand.
The fifth generation Kiihachi Tabata, who carries the legacy of the third generation Kiihachi Tabata, a Yuzen master designated as a Living National Treasure in 1955, has created this truly highest grade authentic Yuzen work.
Kiihachi Tabata, alongside artists like Uzan Kimura, was among the first Yuzen masters in Japan to be recognized as a Living National Treasure in the field of dyeing and weaving.
The Tabata family has been a prestigious lineage in hand-painted Yuzen dyeing for approximately 180 years, spanning five generations since their founding in Bunsei 8 (1825).
This particular work is a supreme quality Irotomesode, meticulously crafted using the finest Hama Chirimen silk from the esteemed Kyoto textile house, Ito & Ko, and lavishly embellished with Kyo-Yuzen dyeing, Japanese embroidery, and genuine gold leaf.
As a work by a master inheriting the title of Living National Treasure, it is perfectly suited for various formal occasions such as weddings, engagement ceremonies, formal dinners with esteemed guests, tea ceremonies, graduations, entrance ceremonies, Shichi-Go-San festivals, and shrine visits.
While it may be considered a luxurious choice, wearing this kimono for cultural experiences like attending a theater performance, visiting an art museum, or enjoying a concert will undoubtedly enrich your spirit and provide a wonderful time.
Although the protective paper (tatōshi) is not included, the previous owner purchased this piece for 1.5 million yen at a special exhibition held at Ginza Wako.
This is a supreme Kyo-Yuzen work by Kiihachi Tabata. We invite you to experience the noble elegance that will surely draw admiring glances from everyone.
