Do's and Don'ts of Basic Ballet Barre by Thalia Mara, published by Dance Magazine, New York, copyright 1955. Oversized hardcover, teal cloth, 45 pages, photos by Walter E. Owen showing correct versus incorrect form for tendus, degages, frappes, battements, and developpes. Measures approximately 9 x 11.5 inches. Mara was a major figure in American ballet, trained in the Ballets Russes tradition and later founded the USA International Ballet Competition. This is a retired New York Public Library circulating copy from the Dance Collection at Lincoln Center, with the original library pocket, card, and a 1968 due date slip still inside.
