This is a Kuruma Tansu (wheeled chest of drawers) from Iwayado Tansu, a traditional craft of Iwate Prefecture.
It is a masterpiece with powerful wood grain, robust metal fittings, and the deep luster of lacquer coating.
It is designed so that the main body can be detached from the wheeled base for use.
The inside of the drawers bear the official Traditional Craft Iwayado Tansu certificate and a label based on the Household Goods Quality Labeling Act, proving its authenticity.
