This is a bat from the Showa era.
Although not widely known, Fukumitsu (Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture) is a town of baseball bats. Bat production began in the late Taisho era, and around the peak in the Showa 30s (1955), there were 10 bat factories, said to account for about 90% of the domestic market share. Since then, production has drastically decreased due to the decline in the number of baseball players and the rise of metal bats. However, even in the Reiwa era, there are still 5 bat factories producing 200,000 bats. While there are bat factories in Gifu, Aichi, Fukui, and Chiba prefectures in Japan, Fukumitsu has the largest production volume as a region in Japan.
This is a Showa-era bat made in Fukumitsu, approximately 50 years old.
Grip is made of rubber.
I believe this is a very valuable and precious bat!
It is also perfect for batting practice!
