This is a black mourning kimono bolt made of pure silk Tango chirimen dyed with traditional Chinese medicine.
As it is secured with thread, not all of it has been inspected, but it is a very beautiful and wonderful item within the visible range.
It has a substantial amount of fabric, so it might even be enough for a haori (a short jacket worn over a kimono).
It has been carefully stored in our family's paulownia wood chest.
My mother used to say that in the past, daughters would be given a set of mourning clothes with their new family's crest embroidered on them as a heartfelt gift when they got married.
Besides being tailored as a mourning kimono, how about using it for interior decoration, kimono remakes, or as a tablecloth?
