Om Mandala - Hand-painted - Made in Nepal - Thangka

Thank you for viewing. This is a mandala made in Nepal. It is hand-painted!
The gold color is made with kondei (pigment mixed with gold powder) and shines brilliantly and divinely when exposed to light.

[OM]
The character depicted in the center of this mandala is OM. It is a spiritual and sacred symbol.
It is said to symbolize the sacred sound that was present when the universe was born from the cosmos.
The Japanese characters A-Un are based on OM.

[Tanka]
This mandala is a Buddhist painting called a Tanka, commonly made in Nepal and Tibet.
The canvas is also entirely handmade.
Cotton cloth is adhered to a wooden frame, and layers of a liquid mixture of limestone powder (chalk), plaster, and pigments are applied until the cloth is no longer visible. The canvas created in this way protects the Tanka from fading, and it is said that the colors will not fade for ten years if not exposed to sunlight.

The red border area is a margin as part of the artwork. It is a margin left when removing the canvas from the frame. You can trim it to adjust the size, leave it as is, or cover it with a mat of your preferred color when framing.
