This product showcases Utagawa Hiroshige's renowned masterpiece, the Hoeido Edition: Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido, arranged in order from Nihonbashi, presented as a picture scroll along with route maps (old maps). Once you unfurl the scroll, you can immerse yourself in the landscapes and the pulse of life in the Edo period.

◆ Utilizing long-length printing technology, these picture scrolls are printed seamlessly, with the Nihonbashi to Mitsuke scroll measuring approximately 5.8 meters and the Hamamatsu to Sanjo Ohashi scroll measuring approximately 5.3 meters.

◆ The upper section of the picture scroll features the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido and explanations of the ukiyo-e prints (in Japanese and English). The lower section displays the old map Tokai Kisogoryo Dochu Kaiho Zukan, published in 1842. This is the first time in the printing and publishing industry that ukiyo-e prints and old maps have been combined in a picture scroll format for enjoyment. (According to company research). By viewing it in conjunction with Tokai Kisogoryo Dochu Kaiho Zukan, which was published as a travel guide during the Edo period, you can further appreciate the ukiyo-e prints.

◆ Icons are used on the old map to indicate the locations where Hiroshige depicted the Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido, as well as famous sites and historical landmarks. You can instantly see the relationship between the locations depicted in the ukiyo-e prints and the actual famous sites and historical landmarks.

◆ With English translations provided for the ukiyo-e explanations, this product is ideal for inbound tourists and as a souvenir for overseas business trips. Instructions for handling the scroll, which may be unfamiliar to foreigners, are also included.

◆ 2 Picture Scrolls, presented in a Japanese-style paper box.
