The Original Sursie Pocket™ – "Gaudy Granny" Edition

Lovingly (and intentionally) designed to capture the Gaudy Granny Pocketbook aesthetic. Brilliantly silly colors, eccentric tassels, beaded strings, and playful, raw protruding seams. It’s loud, it’s nostalgic, and it’s completely one-of-a-kind. Inside, you’ll find a curated collection of small, mystery sursies—little memory tokens reminiscent of the treasures you’d find digging through your own grandma's purse.  100% Cotton yarn. Tight stitch without the need for an interior lining. Crocheted wrist strap, and a charming blue button with gold stars to seal the flap closed. Acrylic heart keychain containing a piece of muslin fabric. Inside the heart, Sursie Pocket is handwritten to mark this as my  original design. 7 1/4 wide x 6 1/4 tall. (Measures 10 from the bottom to the tip of the flap when open).  The Story Behind the Design When I was five or so, my mom would surprise us with little just because gifts (gum, coloring book, stickers) and call them sursies.For decades, I thought it was our family's special made-up word.  My mom also taught me how to crochet over three decades ago. We were incredibly close and when she passed away, my world turned upside down. I eventually picked up my hooks again to finish a blanket she had started for her great-granddaughter. As I stitched, the idea for this original design was born: a perfect blend of the craft she taught me and the  tradition of her little sursie gifts. The Sursie Pocket is a tribute to her memory.
