This is a lesson DVD supervised by Toshihiko Koga, known as Heisei no Sanshiro (Sanshiro of the Heisei Era), who set numerous records with his sharp techniques despite his small stature. It aims to help viewers become judoka who can achieve Ippon (a full point).

Toshihiko Koga, Kodokan 9th Dan
Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1967. He won the World Championships twice, dominated two weight classes, and competed in three Olympic Games, winning a gold medal in the 71kg class at the Barcelona Olympics and a silver medal in the 78kg class at the Atlanta Olympics. Known for his brilliant Seoi-nage (shoulder throw), he was nicknamed Heisei no Sanshiro.
Toshihiko Koga joined the private judo school Kodogakusha in junior high school and quickly distinguished himself with his sharp Ippon-seoi-nage.
He advanced to Nippon Sport Science University and competed in the Seoul Olympics at the age of 20, but was defeated in the third round. Four years later, at the Barcelona Olympics, he won a gold medal despite suffering a major injury just before the games.
After retiring from competition at the age of 32, he worked as a coach for the All Japan Women's Judo team, nurturing future generations, and also dedicated himself to promoting judo by holding judo classes throughout the country.
He sadly passed away on March 24, 2021, at the age of 53.

The image of him celebrating his Barcelona gold medal with his junior, Hidehiko Yoshida, who regards Toshihiko Koga as his judo master, and the sight of him triumphantly raising both arms after winning with a brilliant Ippon-seoi-nage, gave great courage to Japan.
