Description

Thank you for viewing.
This is a hanging scroll of a landscape painting that captures the breath of majestic nature using only the light and dark tones of ink wash.

■Artwork Appeal and Interpretation
• Theme Shōfūsen'in (松風泉韻): Depicts a serene state where the sound of wind passing through pines and the babbling of a spring resonate. Landscape paintings, especially those depicting a waterfall (flying waterfall), are highly valued in the world of tea ceremony and ancient art as bringers of coolness, making them very useful as hanging scrolls for the upcoming season (early summer to summer).

• Brushwork: The brushstrokes are both vigorous and delicate, with superb rendering of the texture of the rocks and the sharpness of the pine needles. This is a highly skilled, hand-painted work that embodies Kiin Seidō (気韻生動 - lively expression), the ideal of Oriental art.
• Artist: Attributed to Sōki (宗祺) based on the signature and seal.

■Condition and Accessories
• This is a cherished item passed down from my grandfather.
• Accessories: There is no original box, but we have set a more affordable price accordingly.
• Condition: There are stains and yellowing due to age, but the power of the ink wash remains undiminished, and you can enjoy it as a distinguished antique.

■Notes
We have not had this professionally appraised, so please only consider purchasing if you are able to determine the artist's details and authenticity from the signature and seal in the photos.
