Wang Fanqing, courtesy name Fang, sobriquet Qin Xian, was from Cixi, Zhejiang. His birth and death dates are unknown. He was the younger cousin of Wang Zhiben. Wang resided in Japan from the third year of the Guangxu era. He was skilled in poetry and prose, excelled at calligraphy, painting, and seal carving. He was also proficient in the shakuhachi and understood music theory, embodying the characteristics of a literati with talent. In Japan, he frequently interacted and exchanged written conversations with Japanese friends such as Zhang Sigui, Huang Zunxian, Shen Wenying, and Wang Zhiben. This is frequently recorded in the documents of Miyajima Seiichiro. Regrettably, the materials available to the author are very limited, and no views of Wang Fanqing regarding Dream of the Red Chamber have been found yet.
