Description
Sumi-e Landscape Painting
- Theme: Expresses the eternal great nature with deep mountains, flowing rivers, trees, and rocks. The dwelling quietly nestled in the valley is the author's imagined utopia, and the figures depicted there symbolize a state of freedom away from worldly ties. This painting style, transmitted to Japan along with Taoist and Zen teachings, expresses a peaceful ideal world and the spiritual homeland of the Japanese people. It creates an infinite worldview depending on the viewer, such as the four seasons, morning and evening, etc.
- Artist: There is a signature and seal that can be read as Hideji, but it has been displayed in the alcove of my family home since long ago, and details are unknown.
