Description
For your consideration is a beautiful vintage mid-20th-century Chinese Shiwan (Shekwan) art pottery wine jug / vase. This piece features a vibrant, glossy green celadon drip glaze covering a sculpted diamond panel with traditional Chinese characters. Adorning the shoulder and base of the jug are three highly expressive, hand-sculpted mudmen folk figures peering over the vessel. The bottom of the unglazed clay base bears the authentic impressed square seal reading 石湾 (Shiwan), alongside artisan kiln-vent holes typical of authentic regional manufacturing.
