Vintage Avon Allegro Maltese Cross brooch/pendant, introduced in 1983. Ornate dimensional gold-tone Maltese cross design featuring a large faceted smoky topaz-color oval center stone accented by two small purple rhinestones. Textured rays, layered scrollwork and architectural detailing give the piece a bold Renaissance/Byzantine-inspired appearance. Convertible design may be worn as either a traditional brooch or as a pendant using the integrated loop on reverse. Signed ©AVON. Measures approximately 1¾ x 1¾. Weight approximately 15 grams. Very good vintage preowned condition. Stones are present and secure, with bright gold-tone finish and minor wear consistent with age. Pin mechanism and pendant loop appear intact.
