The Origins of Evans-Picone: The Founders:  Joseph Picone was a master tailor from Sicily who immigrated to New York City in 1936. Charles Evans was the son of one of Picone’s regular custom-tailoring clients.  The Name:  The duo combined their names but intentionally dropped the s from Evans and the final syllable from Picone (originally pronounced pi-KOH-nay) so the brand name would sound fluid, like a single person. The Men's Tailoring Root:  Before launching the brand, Picone operated a highly successful custom garment shop called MPA Tailors, which specialized in making high-quality men's trousers for elite traditional retailers like Brooks Brothers.  The Expansion Into Men's Clothing Following decades of massive success in women's apparel, the brand leveraged Joseph Picone’s original master-tailor heritage to license and produce dedicated Evan-Picone Men's lines. The Style:  The men's division focused heavily on conservative, classic collegiate aesthetics.
