This is a fantastical work inspired by the famous Usuzumizakura (Pale Ink Cherry Blossom) tree, which actually exists in Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture. Usuzumizakura is said to be over 1,500 years old. It gets its name from the way its blossoms change color: pale pink when budding, white when in full bloom, and a pale ink color as they fall. This artwork expresses the flow of time, ephemerality, and prayers for renewal imbued in this cherry blossom, through delicate brushwork and a unique fantastical world. It creates a scene where the memories of the cherry blossoms seem to become sound, quietly playing out across the entire canvas.
