Rare Discontinued Gretsch G4160MS Limited Micro Sensitive Specification Snare Drum

This is the G4160MS, a rare limited edition of Gretsch's renowned G4160 model.
The G4160 is a legendary model, on par with the Ludwig LM400, with a basic design unchanged for over 50 years, featuring a brass shell with chrome plating. This particular unit is a limited edition released in the 2000s.

Unlike the standard model, it features:
- Internal muffler mute
- Micro Sensitive strainer
making it a practical and functional specification.

It addresses the weakness of the Lightning throw-off, which can loosen during play, while allowing for fine control over snare tension. The Micro Sensitive mechanism has a locking function, offering stable operation and a wide range of adjustment. Another notable feature is the ability to adjust snare tension from both sides.

The sound boasts a brassy, centered attack, with a power and solidity that matches modern ensembles exceptionally well, even compared to current models. Rather than a vintage-like softness, it gives the impression of a forward-driving 4160 with excellent projection and presence.

While there are some minor scuffs, there is no noticeable damage, and the overall condition is good.

This specification is rarely seen on the used market, making it recommended for those looking for a unique instrument.

A Bolt-Tight has been installed and will be included as is. The Bolt-Tight itself has some value, so consider it a small bonus.

The snare wires are a consumable item that eventually stretch, so they have been replaced several times and now feature Puresound wires, which produce a great sound that complements the brass.

The hoops are the original, unchanged parts.

The snare will be shipped in a soft case within a cardboard box.

While it is a valuable item, we believe this is a reasonably priced purchase. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Returns will not be accepted to prevent fraud. Please check the photos carefully before purchasing.
