MoMA Basquiat

Description
This poster is a reproduction of In Italian (1983) by Jean-Michel Basquiat, an artist whose work is included in the MoMA collection.
A native New Yorker and an art icon of the 1980s, Jean-Michel Basquiat gained popularity for his works that incorporated a wide range of elements, from Greek, Roman, and African art to jazz, pop culture, and contemporary artists such as his close friend Andy Warhol. However, even before rising to stardom in the art world, Basquiat's work was legendary in downtown New York. In his teens, Basquiat created graffiti and produced postcards and T-shirts, but he later began working in his studio and achieved fame at the age of 20. Although his career lasted only about 10 years, he bridged the gap between graffiti and galleries and continues to influence the next generation of artists.
I purchased this framed from MoMA a few years ago.
