Bass Drum (Fiber Shell) Slim Type 22-inch (Custom Modified) Junk ④

A custom-modified slim 22-inch bass drum with a depth (from front hoop to back hoop) of approximately 10 inches (about 22cm), created by self-cutting a Pearl 22-inch bass drum shell.

The shell material is PX Fiber Shell.

This is a handmade creation by an amateur, assembled using a mix of new and used parts, excluding the shell. Absolutely do not purchase if you are seeking a professional bass drum sound and construction or perfection.
Please purchase only if you understand that this is a modified junk item by an amateur.

In recent years, there has been a trend towards smaller drum sets due to constraints in transportation, setup space, and playing volume.
However, I personally feel the bass drum in the low-end sound, sound pressure, visual presence, and kick pedal beater feel of a 22-inch bass drum, more so than in smaller diameter bass drums like 14 or 16 inches.
Therefore, I produce slim 22-inch bass drums and sell them to drummers who share the same sentiment.

Improved transportability
① Being slim, it fits into half of a standard 22-inch bass drum case, leaving space for toms, cymbals, pedals, etc.
② The front head can be easily attached/detached by securing it in four places. By removing the front head during transport, much more gear can be stored in the bass drum case.

Improved setup convenience
The depth is approximately 10 inches (22cm), half that of a conventional bass drum. It is usually shallower than small-diameter bass drums.
Examples:
① Pearl's Rhythm Traveler version 3S bass drum has a 14-inch diameter and a depth of 12 inches.
② Products that convert 16-inch or 18-inch floor toms into bass drums often have a depth of 16 inches.

Countermeasure for playing volume constraints
By making a larger hole in the front head, it becomes easy to insert and remove muffling material inside the shell, allowing for volume adjustment by controlling the amount of muffling.

Other
The edge on the batter head side utilizes the original bass drum edge.
The cut side has been processed to be reasonably flat and smooth with a file.
Parts such as lugs, tension bolts, claws, and spurs were purchased new or used.
Parts purchased used may have rust or pitting on the metal components (see photos).

The spurs are equipped with parts that allow the legs to be stored inside the bass drum, improving transportability and reducing weight (Photos 10-12).

The hoops are steel, purchased used (Photos 3-9).
