This is a black tomesode (formal kimono for married women) by Kinyu Yuzen artist Mitsumasa Wada.
It is a beautiful piece featuring Kinyu Yuzen (gold leaf dyeing) depicting a landscape of imperial carriages, pine, plum blossoms, and maple leaves.
Mr. Mitsumasa Wada is a leading master of Kinyu Yuzen in Japan and a traditional craftsman selected as a Master Craftsman of the Modern Era for his exceptional skill.
Fascinated by the beauty of gold leaf, he has thoroughly researched and pursued it to create his unique gold leaf processing techniques.
