Authentic, mid-century or circa 1970s handmade wooden Christmas ornament from the historic Erzgebirge region of East Germany. Measuring approximately 2-3/4 inches tall and wide, it features a minimalist Holy Family nativity scene enclosed within a delicate, circular bentwood hoop frame. The miniature figures of Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus in the manger are finely crafted from turned wood and hand-painted in traditional German folk art style. It comes equipped with a gold thread loop at the top, allowing it to easily hang as a Christmas tree decoration or stand independently on a tabletop display or holiday mantle. A wonderful addition for collectors of German holiday folk art and vintage miniature crèches.
