Anapio Antonini (1942-)
Born in Lugano, Switzerland. During his frail childhood, he spent long hours with paper and colored pencils in bed, becoming familiar with drawing. In 1962, he moved to Paris and dedicated himself to art. His encounter with copperplate printing opened up a new artistic realm, and he developed his unique poetic world on copperplates using various techniques. Through the clear, concise lines of his etchings and the advanced techniques of aquatint, he created works with a sense of expansive space. In 1963, he received the Gauguin Prize. In 1964, he held his first solo exhibition in Switzerland. Since then, he has held solo exhibitions throughout Europe.
