This artwork is a lithograph created in 1975 as a promotional poster for the National Museum Marc Chagall in Nice.
The printing was handled by Charles Sorlier, a master printer from the Mourlot Atelier.
The museum, established on July 7, 1973, Chagall's birthday, houses 17 paintings by Chagall based on the themes of Genesis, Exodus, and Song of Solomon, which he donated to the nation, as well as other works with biblical messages.
It is considered the first national museum named after a living artist.
May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth...
The Song of Solomon, which begins with this verse, is unique within the Old Testament, containing love poems where a man and woman praise each other's beauty.
This artwork depicts a bride and groom blessed by many people, a lively wedding reception concert, and in the distance, the cityscape of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a place Chagall loved.
