●About this lithograph Edition Works:
In 2007, Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) hosted the exhibition The World of Saint-Exupéry's Enduring Masterpiece 'The Little Prince', which toured various locations in Japan. In conjunction with this, prints of The Little Prince were created in Japan by Edition Works.
At that time, Edition Works produced these prints under a license agreement with Le Petit Prince Co., Ltd., the sole authorized agent for Saint-Exupéry's heirs in Japan and the master licensee for all rights related to The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince).

As a unique Japanese artistic expression, five woodblock prints were created based on the illustrations included in the original book. Additionally, three copperplate prints, based on drafts currently held at the Pierpont Morgan Library, possess a distinct charm that differs significantly from the atmosphere of the well-known illustrations.
The woodblock prints were produced in a limited edition of 200, and the copperplate prints in a limited edition of 150. An embossed mark is stamped on the lower right of the image as a license authentication seal.

　Woodblock Print

To express the atmosphere of the illustrations, which have been loved worldwide for many years, in print form, traditional Japanese water-based woodblock printing techniques were employed. Printed with a baren on handmade Japanese paper, the images possess a colorful yet gentle texture. The lines are printed using zinc relief printing to faithfully follow the original hand movements while harmonizing with the water-based woodblock technique. Furthermore, the background features the Ukiyo-e woodblock printing technique of un'ei-zuri (cloud printing), creating a serene and bright space.
