Passed away
He expressed the collapse and rebirth of cities, and the universe. The boy, who was told by his mother that painting is for yakuza, began his serious art career after turning 30 and moved to New York alone. He continued to create works in an apartment frequented by artists, known as the Crazy House, confronting the Manhattan skyline and producing a diverse range of prints, oil paintings, and watercolors. On September 11, 2001, the Twin Towers, just a few kilometers away, vanished in an instant, and the urban collapse that was his theme became a reality before his eyes. He obtained permanent residency in the U.S. and continued to express grand, science-fiction-like worlds. In his later years, he jokingly said, I want to dive into the Hudson River with my paints and end my life with a front-page story in the New York Times.
