Vintage 20th Century Mongolian Toortsog Malgai Silk Brocade Hat

I bought this Toortsog Malgai hat at an estate sale here in Atlanta. The estate included a beautiful vintage/antique hat collection. The tag on the hat said Silk Brocade Hat, Mongolia, 20th Century.  The Toortsog Malgai is a traditional dome-shaped Mongolian hat worn primarily during the summer. Symbolizing prosperity and rising power in Mongolian culture, it stands out a one of the most distinct variants among the region's historical headwear styles.  Anatomy & Construction: - Six-Gore Panels: The upper portion of the hat is never made from a single piece of fabric. Instead, it is contructed by stitching together six separate triangular panels (gores) to form its signature semi-conical or rounded skullcap shape. - Distinct Upper & Lower Sections: This six-panel dome attaches securely to a sturdy, cylindrical lower band that wraps around the wearer s head. - Fanciful Knot: The crown of the Toortsog features a distinct top knot or tassel. Historically, this feature served as a protective symbol meant to intimidate opponents.  I don't know in what part of the 20th century this hat was made.  It's in pristine shape on the outside. The inside lining has some dirt, discoloration, and age. I don't want to clean the dirt since it may be dust from the steppes of Mongolia.  The hat is 4.5 in height without the top knot and 6 in height with the top knot. The diameter of the opening is ~ 6.5. The tassel is ~23 long.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
