1950s Vintage Wide Brim Straw Beach Garden Hat Happy Capper Field Co. LA Taupe

This 1950s Vintage Wide Brim Straw Hat is made by Happy Cappers, coming from the Field Company in Los Angeles. It features a wide brim that is 16 across (measuring from one side to the other) and a shallow-- 1.5 deep--crown. It is made from straw and has a beige/taupe sewn-in tie that can be fashioned into a bow at the chin. I have pictures of my mother wearing it jauntily on the back of her head, preserving her hairstyle in the signature look of the era.It does not have a size as it is meant to sit back on the head, rather than actually cupping the head. Please note meaurements: brim is 16 across, crown is 1.5 deep and 7 across. The ties are a solid, opaque taupe and are sewn into the sweatband of the hat. Each tie is a generous 33 long and 3.5 across.  I have not attempted to clean the ties-- their are shadowy discolorations that look like they are from water or salt as well as a few small stains that I have not tackled. I only noticed the salt stains on close inspection. I also noticed a place where my mother repaired a small rip. I took pictures of all of this. This hat is great for vintage photo shoots, decoration or evenused for its original purpose--a beach or gardening hat that adds a touch of retro charm to an outfit.
