Description
This is my grandmother's old kimono. It was found while cleaning out the house. My grandmother, who will be 100 this year, apparently made it herself before she got married. The main part of the kimono is Kōken (red silk), and the back ties are Mosurin (muslin). It is a Hadajuban (under-kimono). Although it is over 80 years old, the Kōken is in very beautiful condition. To the untrained eye, there are no stains or moth damage. The back ties (muslin) show some scattered moth damage and stains. The Kōken itself has a very delicate and lovely pattern drawn on it. It is a vibrant vermilion color, reminiscent of the Taisho Roman era. It cannot be worn as is, but would it be suitable as material for remakes?
