Taizan (meaning Mount Tai) is a name often bestowed upon the highest-grade lines by prestigious workshops and long-established martial arts equipment stores, symbolizing both simplicity, strength, and robustness and dignity among hand-stitched bogu. This model has long been favored by high-ranking instructors and kendoka who compete at the highest level.
Models bearing the name Taizan rarely compromise on materials.
Navy Leather (Konkawa): Made from carefully selected domestic deer leather (not chrome-tanned, but traditionally smoked deer leather, etc.). It is supple yet highly durable, and its aging process, where the color fades over the years, is exceptionally beautiful.
Boshu Aizome: The fabric for the padding uses the highest quality Boshu Aizome (such as #11,000 thread count), ensuring a deep color that lasts for a long time.

The kote-gashira (top of the kote) is luxuriously made with thick, solid deer hair, and the high-quality navy deer leather has a beautiful color and a luxurious feel. The palm (tenouchi) is made of soft deer leather, so you can use it immediately. There is no odor.
For reference, my middle finger tip to wrist is 19.5cm and my palm circumference is 22cm, and they fit perfectly without stress.

Purchased at a martial arts equipment store in Kyoto.
This is a set of tare and kote, a masterpiece that originally cost approximately 600,000 yen.
