This is a work by Soun Takeda, a leading Japanese calligrapher and contemporary artist.

Purchased at a solo exhibition held at Daimaru Umeda, Osaka.
The frame was custom-ordered from a specialist staff member as I was looking for a gold-framed piece.

The two words, Dream and Love, are layered through the contrast of blue and gold, composed as a visual poem that transcends the framework of calligraphy. The characters are fixed on the canvas not for their meaning, but as their very existence, left to the viewer's interpretation.

Blue and gold ink are used, painted on traditional materials such as Echizen washi paper. The unique fibers of the washi paper and the bleeding of the ink interact, creating a unique expression where chance and intention coexist simultaneously.

The lower right of the work features the signature Soun and a red seal, with an accompanying signature in English letters in the lower left. This symbolizes the artist's stance, bridging both traditional calligraphic styles and contemporary art contexts.

The custom gold frame is designed to be part of the artwork, including the reflection of light in the exhibition space.
