These Nara-made Setta are meticulously crafted one by one by Setta artisans, using Sashiko fabric dyed with pure indigo, weaving history and tradition.
They feature a deep indigo color, a comfortable fit that molds to your feet with wear, and a beautiful texture that evolves as the indigo dye changes over time.
The indigo-dyed Sashiko Setta have a sole thickness of approximately 4cm and are made with highly cushioned material, reducing foot strain and making them easy to walk on asphalt. While perfect for pairing with Samue workwear, they are designed in a color and style that easily complements casual outfits like denim.
*About Bushu Aizome and Sashiko Weave:
This is fabric dyed with pure indigo, originating from the Bushu region of Saitama Prefecture, produced in areas like Hanyu City, Saitama. Products such asワイシャツ類 (dress shirts), 足袋 (tabi socks), Hand towel, and 剣道衣 (kendo uniforms) are extremely famous. The technique of indigo dyeing is said to have been passed down during the Tenmei era (1781-1789) of the Edo period.
Sashiko weave is characterized by its beautiful, natural striped pattern called Aojima that appears when woven, achieved by dyeing the threads themselves.
Bushu indigo-dyed fabrics are also used for kendo uniforms due to their durability, high density, and deodorizing properties.
