Araragi School Poet Akahiko Shimaki, Toshiharu Kinoshita, Shigeru Goto, Meiji University, Tanzaku, Autograph, Antique
This is a handwritten *tanzaku* (a strip of paper for writing poetry) by Shigeru Goto, a *tankaka* (waka poet) of the Araragi school who was active during the Taisho and Showa eras. It is inscribed with The Joy of Walking Together in beautiful calligraphy. Shigeru Goto studied under the *tankaka* Akahiko Shimaki and was also acquainted with Toshiharu Kinoshita. He was also an economist who studied economics at Tokyo Imperial University and served as a professor at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Meiji University. He presided over the Risshun Tanka Kai with his wife Miyoko, and they were said to have had a very good marital relationship. The Joy of Walking Together is likely a straightforward expression of gratitude for his days with his wife Miyoko. It is perfect for your desk or as a companion. How about it for those who appreciate it?
