Shokoryuji Temple Sugiyama Daiun - Fan
A fan from Jōdo-shū Shōkōritsu-ji Temple in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture, belonging to the 11th chief priest, Taiun Sugiyama (1860-1944).
He was also a representative calligrapher of the Meiji period.
Furthermore, the 7th chief priest, Bankū, had connections with the painter-monk Gessen.
The fan surface resembles mica-coated Japanese paper, and the main ribs are finished with red lacquer. It is believed to have been made in 1900, the 33rd year of the Meiji era, the year of the Rat (Kōshi).
Despite being over 120 years old, it is a beautiful fan.
