Description
The Island, a 1979 novel by Peter Benchley (author of Jaws), is a thriller about a journalist investigating mysterious disappearances in the Caribbean who, with his son, stumbles upon a hidden community of descendants of 17th-century pirates living a violent, anachronistic lifestyle. The story follows their capture and forced integration into the pirates' world, which involves debauchery, plunder, and a brutal culture that scuttles modern boats. It was adapted into a 1980 film, also written by Benchley, which was a box office failure. Used without dust cover.
