[About Masan Kin] Masan Kin
A Zen phrase. It means about three kin of hemp seeds, referring to a small amount of hemp seeds. It is said that Zen Master Dōzan Ryōka of China, when asked by a monk, What is Buddha?, replied, Masan kin. This signifies that one can see Buddha in anything if one opens their mind's eye. Zen Master Dōzan Ryōka is a founder of the Sōtō school of Zen Buddhism.
