【Tea Ceremony Utensil】 Sosho Saegusa Work "Bamboo Shoot" Hanging Scroll

Signature and Seal Impression Reading:
Signature (Calligraphy): Written in a cursive script (Sosho style) as Soko. This is the flowing and unique brushwork seen in the genuine works of Saegusa Soko.
Seal Impression: A rectangular seal with a red character (Shubun type, where the characters appear in red). It is inscribed with Soko from top to bottom. The long vertical stroke of the character 素 and the curve of the foot of the character 光 closely resemble one of the seals actually used by Saegusa Soko.

Appraisal/Inference:
Artist: Undoubtedly the Japanese painter Saegusa Soko.
Artwork Content: The signature and seal impression perfectly match the title (bamboo shoots) and the painting on the main paper shown in the previous image.
Condition: While the paper shows some age-related yake (sunburn/discoloration) and shimi (stains), these also contribute to the texture that evokes the passage of time the artwork has experienced (estimated to be from the early Showa period). (From AI)
