The number of artisans who possess traditional techniques for weaving and dyeing kimonos and obi with time-honored craftsmanship is dwindling.

As shown in the 8th image, though difficult to discern in photos, the dye has penetrated to the reverse side of the fabric, indicating that this piece was hand-dyed by an artisan. Modern inkjet printing cannot achieve such deep color penetration to the back.

Furthermore, as seen in images 5-7, extensive gold leaf application has been used. The unevenness of the lines suggests that an artisan meticulously hand-painted each fine line.

Gold thread embroidery is also incorporated in the 4th image, adding to the luxuriousness.

The entire front and back are densely patterned. This is truly a magnificent furisode.

Such handcrafted furisode, showcasing the intricate skills of artisans in every detail, may soon become a rarity.

The accompanying obi is a luxurious fukuro obi, woven with gold foil threads throughout from Nishijin-ori.
