Rarity and Provenance

To the best of my extensive research, this is the only AKAI EWI that Michael Brecker has personally held and signed. I have been unable to confirm any other instances in autograph collections, auction records, or collector networks. This rarity gives this unit historical weight and unique value.

Personal Anecdote

In July 2001, at the Montreal Jazz Festival, I showed this EWI1000 to Michael. He smiled and said, It's been a while since I've seen an early EWI, and held it for a few minutes, playing it as if in air performance without connecting it to an amplifier. After handling it half-jokingly, as if reminiscing about an old partner, he signed it Mike Brecker on the body. I protected the signed area with a transparent film that same night, and since then, this EWI has been kept unplayed and carefully stored.

For me, and for many fans, the fact that an early model EWI has Brecker's genuine autograph is as special as owning a Jimi Hendrix-signed Fender Strat. This is not just a piece of equipment; it is a piece of music history.

(The concert ticket from that night will be presented in photos as proof of the event. The ticket itself is not included in the listing, but I am willing to consider a separate transaction for it if the winning bidder wishes.)
