For scope mounting! Velbon Mark-6G Tripod + Head (PH-163G) Set

This is a set of Velbon Mark-6G tripod and Velbon PH-163G head.

The tripod and head are color-matched for a cohesive look.

For many years, I used this set with a spotting scope for birdwatching (see last photo). With my height of 170 cm, the eyepiece of the spotting scope was at a comfortable viewing level when the tripod was at an intermediate elevation. This set, featuring a tripod known for its durability and a large ball head (load capacity 6 kg), is highly recommended for mounting spotting scopes. Without sufficient capacity in the head, the spotting scope would wobble as soon as you loosened the clamp, but this set prevents that and is very easy to use. I also used this tripod for many years because I was afraid of using lightweight carbon tripods that are easily swayed by the wind when mounting expensive scopes.
I enjoyed using it for a long time, but recently I started using my spotting scope for stargazing and switched to an EDIIIA angled scope. I need a taller tripod for observing celestial objects at high angles, so I've decided to part with this one.

Condition

Although it has been heavily used for over 20 years, it has been carefully maintained and does not look worn out. There is some paint peeling in places (see photos). To prevent sand from getting inside, I wiped the legs with a cloth when retracting them, so there are no issues with sticking when extending or retracting, which can be common with older tripods. The elevation rack and pinion mechanism has no unusual play or looseness (though it's not as silky smooth as new, of course).
