Ueda Castle is a flatland castle built by Masayuki Sanada in 1583, known as an unconquerable castle that repelled Tokugawa's large army in two battles of Ueda. It is one of the most famous castles of the Sengoku period. Currently, it is maintained as Ueda Castle Ruins Park, featuring the existing West Turret (Prefectural Important Cultural Property), restored turret gates, stone walls, and Sanada Shrine. It is also popular as a scenic spot for cherry blossoms and Momiji.
