Edo Period Shinshu Kuradashi Sanada Family Estate Upper Samurai Household Use Antique Quiver (Utsubo) - Repaired and Repainted
Thank you very much for viewing my Mercari listing. This item is an authentic Edo period Utsubo (quiver) from the Shinshu region, originating from the territory of the Sanada family, and was used by high-ranking samurai. The Utsubo was a piece of equestrian equipment used by samurai of a certain rank, typically seen in Yabusame (mounted archery), where it was horizontally secured to the right hip to hold arrows and was used in battles. The original black lacquer coating had deteriorated due to over 250 years of age, showing signs of wear and tear. I have repaired and repainted it with my preferred family crest using hand-painting techniques, followed by several layers of varnish. Please understand that this is not professional work. Therefore, those who are particular about the original condition are kindly asked to refrain from purchasing. The material of the main body and its contents are original from the mid-Edo period or earlier. For reference, the total length is approximately 100 cm and the width is approximately 13 cm. If you are interested in this authentic Edo period samurai equipment, a repaired and repainted Utsubo (quiver) collection, please understand the description and proceed with your purchase. Thank you.
