【Signed】Kozuka Knife Sword Fitting Weapon Fitting [Masa-yuki Minamoto]

★ Product Information ★

[Description]
This is a kogai (small knife) with the inscription Minamoto Masayuki.
Kogai are a type of sword fitting, used for carving wood or as an emergency weapon. They are equivalent to modern-day utility knives or letter openers.
From the Edo period onwards, they came to be regarded as decorative items to enhance the appearance of sword mountings (koshirae).
In addition to their value as daily necessities, kogai are also highly regarded as works of art and craft due to the exquisite craftsmanship and decoration applied by metalworkers.
As this is not a real sword, no registration or notification is required.
Kogai knives are classified as sword fittings, and because their blade length is short, a Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate is not necessary.
This kogai does not have a blade and, like a letter opener, cannot cut anything other than paper. Please consider it a safe work of art and craft.
It is inscribed, but it has not been submitted to a paid appraisal institution. Please consider purchasing only if you have reviewed all images and are satisfied with your understanding and decision.
