Description
Himeturu Ichimonji is a treasured sword, designated as an Important Cultural Property, that was favored by Kenshin Uesugi and later selected as one of the Uesugi Family's Thirty-Five Chosen Blades by Kagemasa Uesugi. It was crafted by the Fukuoka Ichimonji school during the Kamakura period. It is known for the legend where a sword polisher dreamt of a princess named Tsuru who pleaded with him not to shorten (re-polish) the blade.

Features: Crafted by the Fukuoka Ichimonji school. The hamon (temper line) is a vibrant and beautiful mix of choji midare (clove-shaped irregular patterns), jugoka choji, fukuro choji, and gunome midare (wave-like irregular patterns).
Origin of the Name: According to legend, when a swordsmith attempted to shorten the blade, a princess named Tsuru appeared in his dream and begged him not to cut it. Another theory suggests the hamon resembles a crane's wings.
Collection: Currently housed at the Yonezawa City Uesugi Museum (Important Cultural Property). This sword is a replica made to resemble Himeturu Ichimonji.
It features irregular wavy patterns and a groove (hi). The tsuba (handguard) of this sword is a distinctive feature. I have never seen the real one.
