1970s Ampeg Portaflex Fliptop

Selling due to equipment consolidation.

This is the iconic Ampeg Flip-Top bass cabinet from the legendary Portaflex series.

I purchased it used, so I don't have detailed information. According to the staff at the store where I bought it, this is a vintage Ampeg Flip-Top type bass cabinet from the 1970s.

This unit possesses the overwhelming presence and unique sound that only Ampeg from this era can deliver. It has the authentic vintage atmosphere that modern or reissue models simply cannot replicate.

The sound, in a word, is that sound.
It's a thick, round, yet solid low-end that pushes air. The texture you feel the moment you play it, saying Ah, this is it, is unique to units from this era. Whether it's rock, blues, or soul... the persuasiveness in any genre is on another level.

The top panel is not original, but it is well-crafted and integrates well with the main unit. There are no issues with airtightness, and I don't feel any sonic discrepancies. Because the top panel fits snugly, it doesn't open easily, for better or worse. This contributes to high airtightness, which I believe positively impacts the sound.

The exterior shows signs of use consistent with its age, with scratches, dullness, and the patina of time, but these are all part of this unit's charm. In fact, I think it's irresistible for those seeking this kind of atmosphere.

Flip-Top cabinets from the 1970s with this level of atmosphere and sound are rarely seen on the market today. This is truly a cabinet you have to encounter.

For those who love vintage Ampeg sound, this is likely exactly what you're looking for. It's rare to find one, so please consider it while you have the chance.

*Since shipping is cash on delivery, I understand some may be concerned. With that in mind, I am willing to negotiate the price as much as possible, so please leave a comment.
