This is the highest grade Dōtanuki iaido sword from Nihon Antique Gallery (NAG).
I purchased it from an experienced iaido practitioner, but I would like to pass it on to someone else as I am replacing it with another Dōtanuki.
When I purchased it, it did not have a sageo, so I bought a new Sanada-himo cord and tied it on.

With its wide blade and thick construction, it has the imposing presence befitting a Dōtanuki. It has an overwhelming presence when held and looks magnificent as a display in a tokonoma (alcove).
The simple straight hamon (temper line) also highlights the high quality of the blade.

It can be used without issue for iaido practice.
When swung, the groove made by the craftsman produces a crisp cutting sound through the air.
NAG iaido swords are highly regarded by iaido dan holders, so you can purchase with confidence.
*Dōtanuki is a heavy iaido sword with a wide blade, so it requires familiarity with handling. Intermediate or advanced skill level is recommended.

The blade has some minor scuff marks and age-related deterioration, but it is in relatively clean condition. There is no play in the blade, habaki (blade collar), or seppa (spacers), and it has excellent rigidity. The koiguchi (mouth of the saya) is also not loose.
Please check the photos carefully for any other minor exterior scratches and make your purchase only after you are satisfied.

Nihon Antique Gallery has ceased manufacturing iaido swords, so this is a rare piece.
It offers an overwhelming presence and provides a sense of satisfaction just by owning it.
