The ME-8B was released as the successor to the ME-6B, which was released in the early 1990s. The ME-6B is an effects unit favored by artists like Stuart Zender of Jamiroquai and Seiji Kameda of Tokyo Jihen. The ME-8B is an updated version of the ME-6B. The ME-8B is also a pedal used by professional bassists, such as Masaki.
Unlike modern, miniaturized multi-effects pedals, its size is one of its key usability features. The footswitches are neatly arranged, allowing for confident switching.
It features 23 built-in effects, ranging from basic effects to a Humanizer that simulates the human voice, Synth Bass, and sounds that simulate the unique tone and resonance of a fretless bass.
Up to 13 effects can be used simultaneously during performance.
Additionally, 32 effect settings can be stored as patches.
