Description
※Updated Age Information!
⦿ This item was stored at my parents' home in Hokkaido. While we can confirm it was received as a gift around 1961, the exact origin and acquisition route are unfortunately unknown as the owner has passed away.
This is a **vintage item** with the possibility of being an antique!
It would be great as Oriental Interior or a Feng Shui Ornament.
◎ The Bonji (Sanskrit character) on the back signifies Hoteison (one of the Seven Lucky Gods).
◎ The material is likely one of the following: Boxwood, Ebony, Rosewood, or I جداwood, or dyed wood of Boxwood and I جداwood. Regardless, it is **very heavy**. All of these woods are high-quality, and Ebony, in particular, is restricted by CITES, making its distribution extremely limited. Even small scraps can cost tens of thousands of yen!
◎ Hotei-san is considered the god of good fortune, successful relationships, fertility, marital harmony, longevity, good health, and wealth.
